Addlestone Man Sentenced for Brutal Domestic Assault After Assaulting Ex-Partner Twice

Addlestone, England — A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after admitting to grievous bodily harm and assault against his former partner. Oliver Neal received his sentence in Reading Crown Court after a series of violent incidents last year.

The court heard that on October 4, 2022, Neal assaulted the woman, who is in her twenties, while they were inside a car. He repeatedly struck her in the face, resulting in significant injuries, including a black eye and facial bruising.

Following the end of their relationship in early December, Neal’s violence escalated. On December 8, he forcibly entered a residence in Bracknell where his ex-partner was staying. This confrontation led to a severe assault, leaving her with a broken nose, two fractures in her eye socket, and other serious facial injuries.

Detective Constable Anuk Sirisena, the investigating officer, praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward. He noted that her willingness to speak out was pivotal in bringing Neal, described as a threat to women, to justice. Sirisena emphasized the commitment of Thames Valley Police to support victims of domestic abuse and ensure thorough investigations.

“The victim’s tremendous courage has been instrumental in securing this conviction,” he said. “If you are a victim of domestic violence, I urge you to reach out to the police. We have specially trained officers ready to provide support.”

Neal’s conviction is part of a broader effort to combat domestic abuse, a pervasive issue that affects many individuals. Authorities are working to raise awareness and encourage victims to seek help, highlighting the importance of community action in addressing such crimes.

The judge emphasized the severity of Neal’s actions during the sentencing, underlining the long-lasting impact of domestic violence on victims and their families. The case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by those in abusive situations and the necessity of swift legal recourse to protect victims’ rights and safety.

Neal has been removed from the streets, but advocates for victims urge that more needs to be done to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure that victims feel safe and supported in their pursuit of justice.
