Organized by Brandon Tsay, the event aimed to bring healing to those affected by the deadly incident. Tsay, known for bravely disarming the shooter, prevented further bloodshed and became a symbol of resilience in the Asian American community.
The mass shooting at the Star Dance Studio in nearby Monterey Park had left 11 people dead before the shooter ultimately turned the gun on himself. As a result, many in the Asian American community have been living in fear and anxiety, hesitant to leave their homes.
The community remembrance fair provided a pathway to healing for those deeply affected by the tragedy. With mental health resources and other forms of support available, the event sought to provide comfort and a sense of communal unity.
