POMEROY, Ohio — An Amish man has been charged with murder following the suspicious death of a 28-year-old woman in eastern Ohio. The investigation began on March 13, when deputies responded to a report concerning a suspicious death on Dye Road in Rutland.
Authorities discovered Rosanna Kinsinger’s body inside her home, leading to an immediate suspicion surrounding the circumstances of her death. An autopsy performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office yielded inconclusive preliminary results, prompting further investigation by the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office.
As detectives interviewed witnesses, executed search warrants, and analyzed evidence from the scene, they followed various leads that ultimately pointed to Samuel Hochstetler as a person of interest. Hochstetler was known to have been living in the area for several months, having moved from Kentucky to stay with a local resident, Mose Troyer.
On Monday, detectives detained Hochstetler for questioning at the sheriff’s office. Following the interview, he was arrested and subsequently charged with Kinsinger’s murder. Sheriff’s officials expressed their condolences to Kinsinger’s family, describing her as a beloved member of the community who will be dearly missed.

Troyer recounted that on the day Kinsinger was reported missing, community members became concerned after not seeing her throughout the day. He said he entered her home that evening, discovering her lifeless body, while her goat remained nearby. Recognizing the severity of the situation, he promptly contacted emergency services.
