Hayward police are currently investigating the tragic outcome of a traffic collision that claimed the life of an 86-year-old woman on Thursday.
The incident took place in Hayward, California, where a man and a woman died on Saturday evening in what authorities have determined to be a murder/suicide. Authorities were alerted to the situation on April 20 and responded to the 3000 block of West Winton Avenue in Hayward just after 6:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered two deceased individuals inside a vehicle.
A 31-year-old woman, believed to be the victim of the homicide, was found in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Police suspect that a 36-year-old man, also found deceased in the car, fatally shot her before taking his own life.
For the privacy and respect of the families involved, the identities of the deceased individuals have not been disclosed to the public at this time, pending family notification. According to the authorities, a witness reported hearing an argument between the pair shortly before the fatal gunshots were fired. Tragically, the woman’s death marks Hayward’s third homicide of the year 2024.
Authorities urge anyone with information relating to the case to come forward and contact the assigned homicide detective at 510-293-7176. This investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this heartbreaking outcome.
