Arrested: Suspected Shooter in Belle Glade Killing Caught after Fleeing Scene

BELLE GLADE, Florida – A suspected shooter has been arrested in connection with a killing that occurred last month in Belle Glade, Florida. Cedric Harris, Jr. has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder and was booked into the Palm Beach County jail on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, the shooting took place on Southwest Avenue D, where deputies found the victim, Delphone Harris, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Surveillance cameras in the area captured the suspect’s vehicle, an Audi, at the scene of the crime. The deputies stopped the vehicle shortly after the shooting and found the suspect, Cedric Harris, Jr., along with a firearm in the backseat.

Witnesses disclosed that the suspect had expressed feeling disrespected prior to the shooting. One individual reported hearing the suspect say, “He disrespected me, and I am going to show him,” as he donned a black mask before approaching the victim. Another witness mentioned that Harris was repeatedly mentioning that he had been disrespected leading up to the incident.

Authorities were able to track the suspect’s movements through the use of surveillance footage and a system designed to detect gunfire. The Audi was seen stopping on Southwest Avenue B right before the shooting and then quickly departing from the scene. This evidence, along with witness statements, led to the arrest of Cedric Harris, Jr.

Harris, 21, now faces a charge of first-degree premeditated murder in connection with the shooting. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation that ultimately led to Harris’ arrest.
