Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting deaths of four individuals in southeast Los Angeles County late Sunday and early Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Homicide investigators allege that the shootings are connected, although the motive remains unclear.
The four shooting deaths occurred within a span of a few hours in the cities of Huntington Park, Bell, Cudahy, and Los Angeles. The suspects believed to be involved in the murders have been arrested, with authorities also considering the possibility of a third suspect.
The first victim, Kevin Parada, 24, was found shot in a driveway near an elementary school in Bell, while another person was shot and killed in Los Angeles about 30 minutes later. Additionally, a 14-year-old boy was killed outside a learning center in Cudahy, and another unidentified man was found shot in Huntington Park.
The shootings have raised concerns among local officials, with Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn calling the incidents “troubling.” Hahn has been in contact with the affected cities and has offered any assistance needed.
