Karbi Anglong, Assam – A 15-year-old girl was tragically raped, murdered, and left in a forest area by a 25-year-old neighbor, who works as a driver. The incident occurred while the girl was being driven to her school by the accused on January 26. Her body was later discovered by authorities on Tuesday. The driver was promptly arrested after confessing to the crime.
According to the superintendent of police (SP) of Karbi Anglong district, Sanjib Kumar Saikia, a missing complaint was filed on January 27, prompting a search operation. The victim’s body was found in a forest area after four days of intense searching. The accused even had the audacity to report the girl as missing to the police while knowing the truth of her whereabouts.
During the investigation, the victim’s parents revealed that they sent their daughter to the hostel with the driver, but the girl never arrived. As a result, the driver was detained for further questioning and admitted to killing her on the way to the hostel, after sexually assaulting her.
The police have registered a case against the accused under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim’s family members are demanding capital punishment for the accused, stating that they trusted him to take their daughter safely to the hostel, and now they wish for justice to be served.
The accused is currently undergoing further interrogations and will be produced in court. The devastated family is calling for the harshest punishment as a deterrent and to seek justice for their daughter. The entire community is shaken by this horrific crime and is hoping for a swift and fair trial for the accused.
