Boston, Massachusetts – A Massachusetts judge has ruled that a woman accused of a violent assault on a Boston school principal three years ago is fit to stand trial. Laurette LaRouge, now 19 years old, faces charges for allegedly assaulting and causing serious injuries to the principal of the Dr. William W. Henderson Inclusion School in Dorchester back in November 2021. The incident, which reportedly took place during dismissal at the school’s Upper Campus, left the principal with a concussion, possible rib fracture, and swelling to her face and head, according to a police report. In addition, the report noted that the student’s mother had purportedly threatened the principal the night before the assault.
Following a declaration of competency by Judge Peter Coyne, the Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden’s office has confirmed the identity of the accused student as Laurette LaRouge. The ruling came after a court clinician testified to LaRouge’s capacity to stand trial. A change of plea hearing for the case is scheduled for March 29.
