The incident, which occurred on February 15, 2019, also left six others injured, including five police officers who responded to the scene. The shooter, Gary Martin, reportedly became aggressive after being informed of his termination due to a safety violation.
In honor of the victims—Russell Beyer, Vicente Juarez, Clayton Parks, Josh Pinkard, and Trevor Wehner—City officials will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at Aurora City Hall. Local leaders, police and fire department representatives, as well as family members of the victims, will gather to share remembrances and pay tribute to those who lost their lives.
U.S. Representative Bill Foster has introduced a resolution in Congress to honor the victims and acknowledge the bravery of the officers who risked their lives during the tragic event. The Henry Pratt Company, known for manufacturing industrial valves, shut down its Aurora facility in 2022, relocating its operations to Tennessee. The closure marked a significant change for the community, which continues to grapple with the impact of the shooting.
