Indianapolis, Indiana – A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours at a bar on the east side of Indianapolis, resulting in the death of an individual and injuries to several others, including an IMPD officer. The shootout occurred outside the 1111 Bar & Grille, where two off-duty IMPD officers had ejected a patron following a dispute inside the establishment.
The situation escalated when gunfire erupted in the bar’s parking lot while the officers were assisting with a medical emergency. The chaotic scene led to four civilians and the officer sustaining injuries, with one wounded individual being driven away in a vehicle. The injured man, identified as Dominique Durham, was later pronounced dead upon arrival at Community East Hospital.
Dominique’s father, William Durham, expressed shock and disbelief over the tragic events, questioning how his son was able to be driven to the hospital instead of being transported via an ambulance. He denied that his son was in possession of the gun recovered by detectives at the scene, emphasizing that the firearm did not belong to Dominique.
IMPD Chief Christopher Bailey addressed the media, indicating that investigations were ongoing to gather evidence, review surveillance footage, and analyze witness accounts.
