Baton Rouge, LA – A second arrest has been made in the investigation of a fatal shooting that occurred on New Year’s Eve in Baton Rouge, police said. Kelvin Robins, 37, was detained by the Baton Rouge Police Department in connection with the murder of 44-year-old William Bradford.
The incident took place on December 31, when law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire in the 2000 block of O’Neal Lane. Upon arrival, officers found Bradford who had sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Robins faces multiple charges including first-degree murder, as well as being an accomplice to second-degree battery and armed robbery. Prior to Robins’ apprehension, Glenn Walker had also been arrested on January 7 regarding his alleged role in the same incident.
The police department’s swift action to bring those responsible to justice has been a relief to the local community, still reeling from the violent start to the new year. The arrest of Robins marks a significant development in the case, reflecting diligent investigative work following leads generated in the initial stages of the inquiry.
Legal experts emphasize that the charges of principal to second-degree battery and principal to armed robbery indicate that authorities believe Robins played a critical role in facilitating the crime, though not necessarily committing the direct acts himself.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison is currently holding Robins as the case progresses through the legal system. The specific contributions of each suspected individual to the crime are under careful scrutiny as prosecutors build their case.
This tragic event underscores ongoing concerns about gun violence in the region, prompting community leaders and law enforcement to call for renewed efforts in tackling crime and ensuring public safety.
As the community mourns the loss of Bradford and grapples with the implications of the incident, attention turns to the upcoming court proceedings. These will likely shed further light on the circumstances of the shooting and the measures necessary to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The investigation remains active, with authorities not ruling out the possibility of further arrests as more information comes to light. The resolution of this case is keenly awaited by a community eager for justice and reassurance that safety is being restored.
