Prosecutors say a dinner argument ended with a fatal chest wound at a Lac La Belle apartment.
OKAUCHEE, Wis. — A 27-year-old Okauchee woman has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide after prosecutors said she fatally stabbed her boyfriend Friday night during an argument over dinner at a Waukesha County apartment.
Mikayla R. Kloth made her initial court appearance Monday in Waukesha County Court, where Court Commissioner David Herring set her cash bond at $2 million. The victim was identified by family as 25-year-old Lukas Rosch. Authorities said the case began with a 911 call around 6:48 p.m. April 24 from an apartment on Wisconsin Avenue in the Village of Lac La Belle.
Officers found Rosch on the floor with a stab wound to the chest, according to the criminal complaint described in court records. He was taken to Aurora Summit Hospital, where he later died. Prosecutors said Kloth was still inside the apartment when officers arrived. When an officer asked who stabbed Rosch, Kloth allegedly said, “I did.” Investigators said she told police she had been angry because she wanted to go out to eat, while Rosch had come over with chicken drumsticks, seasoning and plans to use an air fryer.
The complaint says Kloth first told investigators she was trying to take a knife away from Rosch. She later admitted she became angry and pushed the knife into his chest, prosecutors said. An autopsy found Rosch died from a stab wound to the chest. Police said the wound went through his heart. Prosecutors also said Rosch had told someone about a week before the stabbing that Kloth had bitten his thumb and that he feared for his safety. Officials have not said whether any prior police reports were filed in connection with that claim.
Rosch’s relatives filled the courtroom Monday as prosecutors outlined the allegations. His father, Matthew Rosch, addressed the court and called his son’s death a loss his family would carry for the rest of their lives. “I stand before you a shattered man. A shattered husband. A shattered father,” he said. Herring said Kloth spoke openly with officers after the stabbing. Prosecutors said she also told investigators that if they had to lock her up, that was “cool.”
Kloth is presumed innocent unless convicted in court. Her next hearing is scheduled for May 29. Prosecutors are expected to present more evidence as the case moves through Waukesha County Circuit Court.
