Breakthrough in Northeast Bexar Tragedy: 20-Year-Old Charged with Capital Murder Amidst Evolving Investigation

San Antonio, TX – After a prolonged investigation spanning several months, law enforcement officials in Bexar County announced the arrest of 20-year-old Isaiah Perales on charges of capital murder. The arrest is connected to a tragic incident where gunfire erupted at a family home on Windsor Hollow Drive, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old girl and severe injuries to four other residents.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar disclosed at a press conference on Oct. 23 that the arrest followed the discovery of new evidence and tips from the public. Authorities expect further arrests as the investigation continues, uncovering a web of criminal activities including auto thefts and possible retaliatory motives linked to an earlier homicide.

The deadly attack occurred on May 8, when two assailants, armed with rifles and firing nearly 30 rounds each, targeted a northeast side home. The surveillance footage provided by a neighbor’s camera to investigators shows the men, clad in hoodies and ski masks, arriving in a gray vehicle and shooting indiscriminately towards the residence.

The four-year-old victim, identified as Maryann Marble, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The other victims, two young boys and two adults, sustained critical injuries from the gunfire, showcasing the brutal nature of the assault.

Following the attack, the community rallied together, with relatives and neighbors expressing grief and outrage. One neighbor labeled the shooters as cowardly, highlighting the ruthlessness of targeting a home with children inside.

In the aftermath, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office intensified efforts to track down the assailants. This led to the creation of a specialized task force, incorporating various units focused on gathering intelligence and apprehending suspects involved in this and possibly related crimes.

The investigative breakthrough came when a rifle, believed to be used in the shooting, was recovered from the muddy bottom of Calaveras Lake by a scuba diving team from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The rifle, a loaded Draco AK-47-style gun, linked the suspects to the crime scene through ballistics analysis.

Further progress in the case arose from an unrelated auto theft investigation which inadvertently connected Perales and another suspect, 22-year-old Bryan Salazar, to the Windsor Hollow incident. Documents revealed that the shooting might have been in retaliation for the killing of Salazar’s stepbrother two weeks prior to the attack.

In addition to the significant findings at the lake, investigators utilized digital evidence and tips from Crime Stoppers to piece together the suspects’ movements and associations before and after the shooting. This included tracking Perales’ cell phone, which placed him near the crime scene and later near the lake where the weapon was disposed of.

As the legal proceedings commence, the community and family of the victims await justice, hoping that the return to court will bring closure to a deeply distressing chapter in their lives. The Sheriff’s office vows to continue its diligent pursuit of all involved, aiming to secure a full account of the events and ensure all responsible parties are held accountable for their actions.
