Surat, India — A violent confrontation erupted in the Mota Varachha area of Surat, as a BBA student was brutally attacked by a group of more than 15 youths, leading to significant public outcry. The incident unfolded near Platinum Point and has raised alarm after a disturbing video of the assault circulated online.
The victim, identified as Preet Pradipbhai Ghoghari, was reportedly called to the location under the pretense of resolving a prior dispute with a young man named Rahul Goswami. Roughly two weeks before the attack, Ghoghari and Goswami had a confrontation, which allegedly prompted Goswami to harbor resentment and issue threats toward Ghoghari in the days leading up to the assault.
Upon arrival at the arranged meeting spot, Ghoghari was encircled by the group, which included Goswami. Armed with sticks, cricket bats, and iron rods, the mob launched a relentless attack on Ghoghari, who suffered severe injuries, causing him to fall to the ground. Even in his vulnerable state, the assailants continued the brutal assault, leaving him with critical injuries to his arms and abdomen.
The violence did not go unnoticed, as several bystanders began recording the incident with their mobile devices. The assault caused widespread panic among residents and passersby, who were horrified by the public nature of the attack. As more people gathered, the mob dispersed, with Goswami reportedly issuing threats to Ghoghari as they fled.
In the wake of the incident, Ghoghari sought assistance at the Utran Police Station, formally reporting the attack and naming eight individuals, along with the unidentified members of the mob. Law enforcement officials swiftly registered a case that included charges of rioting and other related offenses.
Responding to the urgency of the situation, police quickly apprehended 11 suspects within hours of the attack. Demonstrating a commitment to public safety, officers brought the arrested individuals back to the crime scene for a reconstruction of the event, aiming to reinforce the rule of law and discourage similar acts of violence in the future.
