Huntingdon, England — A 37-year-old Bulgarian man was sentenced to 45 months in prison following a violent altercation with his flatmate that escalated dramatically last year. Tihomir Slavov received the lengthy jail term for multiple charges, including assault causing grievous bodily harm, attempted robbery, and burglary.
The confrontation began on October 10, 2022, when Slavov allegedly broke into his flatmate’s room and took several cigarettes. This theft prompted a confrontation two days later, during which the victim expressed concerns about Slavov’s actions and the state of overdue rent payments. Initially, Slavov apologized and promised to repair the damage he had caused to the door during the break-in.
However, tensions reached a boiling point on October 14, when Slavov forcibly entered the victim’s room, launching a physical attack that included multiple punches and threats with a knife. During this frightening encounter, he demanded the victim’s bank cards and then stole his mobile phone. When the victim attempted to defend himself, the situation escalated further, resulting in Slavov stabbing him several times.
Following the assault, Slavov fled the residence, leaving the victim with significant injuries. Emergency services were called, and the victim was promptly transported to a hospital to treat stab wounds on his forearm, thigh, and face. The police were notified and successfully located Slavov later that same day.
In court, Slavov admitted to all charges against him, reflecting a pattern of escalating violence and criminal behavior. The severity of his actions, combined with the significant physical trauma inflicted upon the victim, led to the judge’s decision to impose a prison sentence.
