Chaos Erupts in Minneapolis as Anti-ICE Protests Turn Violent, Leaving Man Bloodied and Fleeing from Mob

Minneapolis, Minnesota — Violence erupted during a protest Saturday, leaving a man injured as clashes broke out between demonstrators and anti-immigration activists. The incident unfolded in a parking garage as one unidentified man attempted to leave the area, where he was pursued and assaulted by a group allegedly opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Footage captured during the barrage shows the man being struck in the head with a flagpole, suffering a visible head injury. Eyewitnesses reported that the crowd followed him into the garage, where he was pepper-sprayed and taunted amidst escalating brutality. “I’m trying to be done, but you guys keep harassing me,” he told the crowd, his clothing stained with blood.

While one protester urged the crowd to provide medical assistance, chanting phrases that referenced “Nazis,” the injured man declined help, asserting that he was fine. As he managed to enter his vehicle and flee the scene, the aggressive mob pounded on the car and continued to intimidate him.

Simultaneously, Jake Lang, an activist and Republican Senate candidate, was also caught in the tumult. Believed to be among those rallying against what he termed “Islamification,” Lang was seen being forcibly removed by protesters. He emerged from the encounter with injuries that included blood on his head, describing his experience as being attacked by a mob.

Despite the chaos surrounding the protests, law enforcement remained largely on the periphery of the violent encounters. The Minneapolis Police Department acknowledged that it was aware of social media accounts detailing the violence but noted that no official reports had been filed regarding the assaults. Authorities have urged anyone involved to come forward with their accounts for further investigation.

As tensions flared, the Minnesota National Guard was put on standby in response to the unrest, although no troops had yet been deployed to the streets. The surge in protests was partly fueled by recent events, including the deadly shooting of a woman by an ICE agent during a separate incident earlier in the month. The protests have been described as part of a growing friction surrounding immigration enforcement policies in the state.

Outside the Whipple Federal Building, where protesters clashed with law enforcement, dissent was palpable. Federal agents were present to manage the situation as demonstrators shouted insults and attempted to breach their line. The need for law enforcement’s intervention underscored the volatile atmosphere that has permeated demonstrations regarding immigration enforcement in the area.

As the dust settled late Saturday, the likelihood of more protests remained high. Activists and residents alike grappled with the implications of these events, as calls for accountability and reforms in immigration policy echoed throughout the city.
