Gardena, Calif. — A tense and alarming confrontation escalated on Wednesday when a woman in black scrubs attacked a Los Angeles County firefighter seated in his vehicle and later rammed her car into a police vehicle, authorities reported.
The incident, which occurred shortly after noon on Manhattan Beach Boulevard, began after firefighters were dispatched to a reported traffic collision. Upon their arrival, they encountered a visibly agitated woman who lashed out at the firefighter.
Eyewitnesses captured video footage showing the woman vehemently yelling and striking the firefighter, who was trying to de-escalate the situation from inside his department SUV. The woman, identified as 36-year-old Jessica Chavez of Inglewood, displayed increasing aggression, culminating in her slapping and appearing to prepare to punch the firefighter.
