Miami, Florida — A late-night argument escalated to violence early Wednesday morning when a shooting near the Brickell Metrorail station left one man dead. Authorities reported receiving a call at approximately 12:45 a.m. about the incident, which occurred at the busy intersection of Southwest 1st Avenue and Southwest 8th Street, just steps from the popular Brickell City Centre.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a man who had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Initial investigations revealed that the confrontation began as a dispute between the deceased and a woman. Chris Felix, a nearby resident, described the chaotic moments leading up to the shooting. He had just approached the bar Blackbird Ordinary when he heard the couple arguing. “It was quick. I heard around seven or eight shots,” Felix recounted. He witnessed the shooter run past him, dropping the firearm before retrieving it and fleeing the scene. Following the gunfire, Felix reported hearing the woman call for help.
Police have yet to disclose the identity of the deceased man. Investigators confirmed that there is no active threat to the community and are collaborating with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
