Children Found Dead After Mother’s Bar-Lot Shooting Spree

Police say the case began with a confrontation outside a Glendale bar and ended hours later at a Phoenix home.

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Police in the Phoenix area are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after authorities said a woman shot another woman outside a Glendale sports bar before returning home, where officers later found her and her two children dead from gunshot wounds early Monday.

Investigators said the violence unfolded across two cities and involved an apparent domestic dispute connected to the children’s father. Authorities identified the mother as 38-year-old Andrea Clarice Davis. Her children, a 10-year-old boy and an 18-month-old girl, were found dead inside the family’s Phoenix residence after officers forced entry into the home. A separate shooting victim, a woman who had been with the children’s father outside the bar, survived and remained hospitalized Monday.

According to Glendale police, officers were first called shortly after midnight to Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill after reports of gunfire outside the business. Investigators said Andrea Davis arrived at the location and confronted her husband, Nolan Davis, and another woman in the parking lot. Police said the second woman was attempting to leave when she was shot in the back of the head. Officers at the scene began providing aid while witnesses described panic outside the crowded bar. Glendale police spokesperson Jose Santiago said investigators believe the shooting was targeted and tied to an ongoing domestic conflict. Nolan Davis was not injured during the encounter. Detectives later learned Andrea Davis had left the area and driven toward Phoenix.

Authorities said the situation escalated when Andrea Davis allegedly sent disturbing text messages and photographs to her husband after leaving the Glendale scene. Officers already speaking with Nolan Davis at the bar were informed that she had threatened to harm the children. Phoenix police officers were dispatched to the family’s home, located roughly two miles from the sports bar. When officers arrived, police said they attempted to make contact but received no response. After entering the residence, officers discovered the bodies of Andrea Davis and the two children. Investigators have not publicly detailed the exact timeline of the deaths or the type of firearm used. Police said preliminary evidence points to a murder-suicide, though autopsy findings from the Maricopa County medical examiner are still pending.

Neighbors in the area described a large police response before sunrise as patrol vehicles blocked residential streets around the home. Some residents said the family had lived quietly in the neighborhood and that there were no visible warning signs before the violence erupted. Surveillance footage later released by local television stations showed the children walking through the neighborhood with their father hours before the shootings occurred. Authorities said there had been no recent domestic violence calls involving the family at the address. Investigators are now reviewing electronic records, witness interviews and surveillance video gathered from both the Glendale bar and the Phoenix neighborhood as they work to reconstruct the final hours before the killings.

Police officials said the surviving shooting victim remains hospitalized and is expected to recover. Her identity has not been publicly released. Detectives have not stated whether criminal proceedings connected to the Glendale shooting would have been filed had Andrea Davis survived. Glendale and Phoenix investigators are coordinating evidence collection because the events crossed city jurisdictions. Authorities also confirmed that child welfare specialists and victim advocates were assisting relatives and others connected to the case. Officials have not said whether the couple was separated or involved in legal proceedings at the time of the shootings, though investigators acknowledged the dispute appeared connected to relationship tensions.

Friends and acquaintances reacted with shock as details of the case emerged throughout the day. One family friend told local reporters that Andrea Davis had recently appeared emotionally distressed and fearful that her marriage was collapsing. Outside the sports bar Monday afternoon, workers cleaned broken glass and reopened portions of the parking lot while detectives continued photographing evidence markers near the scene of the shooting. Neighbors in Phoenix placed stuffed animals and flowers near the family’s home as news spread about the deaths of the children. “Everybody is devastated,” one nearby resident said. “No one expected something like this to happen here.”

The investigation remained active Monday evening as detectives waited for autopsy results and continued interviewing witnesses connected to both shooting scenes. Police said additional updates could be released after forensic testing and medical examiner findings are completed later this week.
