NEW ORLEANS, LA – Josh Kagler, a celebrated figure in New Orleans’ gospel and educational circles, is now at the center of a serious legal investigation. Accusations of sex trafficking and rape involving a minor have led to his arrest, prompting police to seek further information from the public.
The case emerged when the mother of a 16-year-old boy discovered alarming texts on her son’s phone. The boy disclosed that Kagler, who taught him at Warren Easton Charter High School, had lured him with marijuana and money.
Reports indicate that Kagler engaged the boy in sexual activities, which progressed to unwanted physical interactions. The alleged incidents took place at Kagler’s home, with him arranging the boy’s transportation.
Warren Easton has confirmed Kagler’s previous role at the school and highlighted their cooperation with the ongoing investigation. The school reiterated its focus on ensuring student safety.
Kagler’s previous teaching roles and his participation in the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, along with his contribution to a Grammy-winning album, have now been overshadowed by these allegations.
The NOPD is urging any additional victims to come forward, assuring them of confidentiality and support. Kagler faces numerous charges and remains in custody without bond.
