SAN ANTONIO — A festive family gathering turned into a scene of chaos and fear early on Christmas Day, leading to a father and son being hospitalized following a violent confrontation with neighbors. The incident occurred on Castle Hunt Drive when a dispute escalated into a stabbing and a physical assault, according to local law enforcement.
Alexis Tobias, who witnessed the events unfold, described the scene outside his home, highlighting the remnants of violence with visible blood stains lingering on the pavement. “The situation escalated quickly, and by the end of it, my dad was hurt,” he said, pointing to the area where the conflict broke out.
The trouble began when Tobias’ father confronted a neighbor who had allegedly been stealing car parts from the family’s vehicle. “We had reports from other neighbors about that guy lurking around our car,” Alexis explained. The confrontation escalated when the father challenged the neighbor, resulting in a physical altercation after the neighbor returned with several accomplices.
During the confrontation, the father sustained a serious injury from a knife wound that penetrated his chest, as well as a significant head injury from being struck with a metal bat. “He needed seven stitches to treat the gash on his head,” Alexis noted, detailing the severity of his father’s condition.
In an effort to defend his father, Alexis was also injured during the attack, receiving a blow to the face with the bat. “I stumbled but stayed conscious,” he recalled. “The whole thing felt surreal.”
The assailants fled the scene in a gray SUV, leaving the family to deal with the immediate aftermath of the violent encounter. Alexis pointed out handprints left on their family’s car, which authorities are now examining as part of their investigation. “We haven’t touched anything. We’re letting the detectives do their work,” he said.
Both the father and son are currently recovering from their wounds, while the San Antonio Police Department continues to seek out those responsible for the assault. As of now, no arrests have been made, but investigators are piecing together evidence to bring the assailants to justice.
