Clovis, NM — A Clovis man, Lloyd Edwards, has been convicted of voluntary manslaughter in connection with the 2023 stabbing death of his wife at a local truck stop, officials announced. The verdict came after a jury deliberation following a tense three-day trial that culminated on Feb. 26, 2025, shedding light on a case that has gripped the community.
The incident, which led to the tragic death of Roxie Edwards, occurred on Jan. 18, 2023, at the Love’s Travel Stop in Clovis. Authorities recounted that the defendant had called 911 on the night of the incident, claiming his wife was severely bleeding after being stabbed in the neck. However, his narrative to the police evolved with multiple inconsistencies during their investigation.
First responders rushed Roxie Edwards to Plains Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her wounds. The severity of the case was underscored by the discovery of a knife at the scene, which was covered in the victim’s blood and later found in Lloyd Edwards’ possession.
During the trial, the jury was presented with this critical piece of evidence linking Edwards to the crime. Despite this, they acquitted him of second-degree murder, which would have carried a potential sentence of 15 years.
