DOYLESTOWN, Pennsylvania – Two truck drivers from Michigan are facing charges for their alleged involvement in a violent robbery at a Bucks County comic book store in September 2022. The suspects, 22-year-old Zackery Maximus Tucker and 35-year-old Caleb James-Lorenze Simpson, are accused of attacking the owner of Comic Collection in Lower Southampton Township.
According to officials, Tucker was arraigned on Monday on charges of robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, and other related offenses. He is currently being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility under $300,000 bail, with Simpson awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania from Michigan.
The violent robbery occurred on September 18, 2022, when the suspects entered the comic book store and pretended to be customers before assaulting the owner. The 61-year-old victim was found tied up and beaten inside the store, suffering from multiple injuries.
During the robbery, one of the suspects wore a black hooded sweatshirt while the other wore a red “Deadpool” t-shirt. The suspects asked the owner for assistance with merchandise on a high shelf, then proceeded to knock him off a ladder, beat him, and threaten him with a knife.
After stealing various items from the store, including a laptop, cash, comic books, and Pokémon cards, the suspects fled the scene. They were later identified through surveillance footage and evidence found at the store.
Following a tip received in December 2023, authorities were able to connect Simpson and Tucker to the robbery using forensic evidence. In February 2024, results from the Pennsylvania State Police crime lab further linked Simpson to the crime.
The victim sustained significant injuries during the attack, including contusions, lacerations, and broken ribs. Investigators were able to recover stolen merchandise and clothing worn by the suspects, ultimately leading to the arrest of Tucker and Simpson for their involvement in the violent robbery.
