FENTON, Mo. — A vibrant community mourns the tragic loss of Marijon Ludwig, known to friends as BJ, who was found dead over the weekend in a suspected homicide. The 46-year-old woman was discovered shortly after being reportedly shot and stabbed in a residence on Winding Valley Drive, where authorities believe her accused assailant, 69-year-old Billy Moman, also resided.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office quickly located Moman, prompting a tense standoff at a nearby Holiday Inn. Guests were evacuated as the situation unfolded, and Moman was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound early Sunday morning, marking a grim conclusion to a harrowing ordeal.
Ludwig’s friends are remembering her as a warm and uplifting presence who sought to spread joy and laughter. Trisha Hamilton, a friend of over three decades, recounted how Ludwig would often pull playful pranks and always wore a smile, brightening the days of those around her. “She had this infectious energy,” Hamilton recalled. “Seeing her always felt like a breath of fresh air.”
Another close friend, Sheri Fluri, described Ludwig as down-to-earth and kind-hearted. “She was bubbly and great to be around,” Fluri said. Both friends expressed their disbelief at the violence that claimed Ludwig’s life, with Hamilton emphasizing that no one deserved to face such a fate, especially someone as loving as Ludwig.
Moman’s history adds a troubling layer to the case. He was previously convicted of second-degree murder in Minnesota in 1996 and served 24 years in prison before his release in March 2020 under supervision. The Department of Corrections in Minnesota confirmed his criminal background, which raised concerns for law enforcement as they responded to the standoff situation, leading to the evacuation of 81 hotel rooms.
Ludwig’s past relationship with Moman has left many wondering about the nature of their connection at the time of the incident. Friends say it remains uncertain if the two had rekindled their romance after years apart. “She’ll be truly missed,” Fluri said, reflecting the profound loss felt by the community.
As investigations continue, the legacy of Ludwig’s joyful spirit endures in the hearts of her friends and loved ones. They express a collective hope that the circumstances surrounding her death will be thoroughly examined and justice will be served for the woman they cherished.
