The event, held on September 6, served as a poignant reminder of the young life lost on July 6 and the ongoing fight for justice.
The community has rallied behind Daydrian’s family as they seek answers about his death. Flyers have been distributed throughout Tucson, offering rewards for information related to the case. The situation took a pivotal turn when authorities announced the arrest of Katraun Devon McLendon, 20, in connection with the shooting.
Daydrian’s mother, Dahlia, expressed mixed feelings upon learning of the arrest. While she felt some relief at the prospect of accountability, she emphasized that justice remains incomplete. “I was terrified we wouldn’t get answers, and when we finally did, it felt like a burden had eased,” she said. However, she believes another suspect may be involved, as she has viewed footage that has not been made public. “I know there are two people involved, and I’m determined that we will find the second one,” she added.
Attendees at the celebration echoed these sentiments. Rayanne Graves, who referred to herself as Daydrian’s “honorary soccer mom,” acknowledged that while this development is a start, true justice has yet to be served. “It brings a bit of relief knowing there is some progress, some glimmer of what happened that night,” Graves stated.

In her advocacy, Dahlia has connected with families of other victims, all united in their quest for closure and accountability. “We’ll keep pushing for justice for all three young men. No parent should endure this kind of suffering,” she remarked.
As Katraun Devon McLendon awaits further legal proceedings, held on a $1 million bond, the next court date is set for September 15. The shadow of Daydrian’s tragic loss lingers over the community, amplifying voices calling for change and justice in the wake of gun violence.
