Luton, England — A somber yet beautiful tribute has emerged in Leagrave Park, honoring the memory of three family members tragically killed in an act of violence. In September 2024, Nicholas Prosper shot and killed his mother, Juliana Falcon, 48, and his siblings, Kyle, 16, and Giselle, 13, at their home, a horrific event that still resonates within the community as it grapples with the aftermath of their loss.
The newly unveiled memorial bench is the vision of a close family friend, who described it as “breathtaking.” Positioned in a serene area overlooking a field where the family once enjoyed picnics, the bench serves as a lasting reminder of the love and joy that defined their lives. Following the sentencing of Nicholas Prosper to life in prison, with a minimum term of 49 years, efforts to commemorate the victims took on a new urgency.
Leigh-Anne, a friend of the family who chose not to disclose her last name, played a pivotal role in bringing this project to life. With assistance from local officials, including a former mayor, as well as the Luton Borough Council’s green spaces team and the charity Legends on the Bench, the bench was installed in a location meaningful to the family. “This bench is not just wood and stone; it’s a place of remembrance, where memories and love can be cherished,” she said.
A plaque on the bench features the names and birth dates of the three victims, accompanied by a QR code that allows visitors to learn more about their lives. However, the bench carries a deeper message. Engraved at its top are the words “Someone is always listening,” alongside additional plaques displaying contact information for local support organizations. These resources aim to offer assistance and a listening ear for anyone struggling with their mental health.
Leigh-Anne expressed her hope that the bench would serve as a community gathering space, providing a haven for reflection and empowerment. “I want this to be a place where people can come to collect their thoughts and find strength to face another day,” she stated.
The loss of Juliana, Kyle, and Giselle continues to echo through the Marsh Farm estate, leaving a poignant reminder of how quickly life can change. In a separate tribute, another bench has been installed in Lewsey Park in honor of Fatema Islam, a respected community activist. These memorials collectively highlight the resilience of the community and the importance of remembrance in the face of tragedy.
