London, England — Former glamour model Katie Price is facing renewed criticism from animal rights group PETA, which has previously labeled her a “serial animal killer” due to a troubling history involving multiple pet deaths. The 47-year-old has come under fire once again after a recent incident where one of her Sphynx cats was allegedly left unprotected in the sun, resulting in sunburn.
In an online video, Price showcased her Sphynx cat, Kevin, who appeared to have a red, sunburned back. While petting the animal, she commented on its condition, emphasizing the difficulty she faces in keeping her cats away from direct sunlight. Accompanying the video was a caption indicating her struggle to manage the cats’ exposure.
PETA spokesperson Elisa Allen expressed concern over Price’s ongoing disregard for proper pet care. “It seems futile to advise her on animal welfare matters,” Allen stated, criticizing the celebrity for her repetitive pattern of neglect. She noted that Sphynx cats, being hairless, are particularly susceptible to sunburn, and emphasized the importance of keeping such pets indoors or ensuring they have adequate shade and vet-approved sunscreen during outdoor time.
This incident is not isolated; PETA has previously condemned Price for her track record with pets. Following her introduction of Daisy, another Sphynx cat, the organization suggested there should be legal restrictions preventing her from owning animals. PETA’s founder, Ingrid Newkirk, voiced her organization’s serious concerns, particularly regarding the well-being of pets under Price’s care.
Throughout her life, Price has experienced several tragic incidents involving her animals. Four of her dogs were killed in accidents near her home, and in 2017, a horse she owned was struck by a vehicle after escaping. Additionally, a dog named Rolo tragically suffocated in her home, and Price has reported the death of a chameleon, along with the need to euthanize another cat suffering from a neurological condition.
Despite the backlash, Price appears to continue her practice of pet ownership. PETA’s outspoken criticism aims not only to raise awareness of animal welfare issues but also to hold individuals accountable for their treatment of pets. The organization encourages all pet owners to stay vigilant and prioritize the health and safety of their animals, advocating for informed care practices.
As debates surrounding responsible pet ownership surface, Price’s actions and their implications on animal welfare remain in the spotlight, drawing attention to the broader issues of neglect and responsibility in pet care.
