DALLAS, TX – A tragic shooting in Dallas has led to murder charges against a bounty hunter and a private investigator. Rodney Brown and George Davis are accused of killing Dru Knowles, 33, during an attempted warrant execution on Thursday morning.
The confrontation unfolded near an Old East Dallas apartment complex. Brown and Davis, who were acting on two felony warrants for Knowles, tracked him down using license plate readers after failing to locate him at his listed address.
Surveillance footage captured the dramatic moments as the suspects cornered Knowles’ vehicle. When he tried to flee, both men reportedly fired into the car, striking Knowles multiple times and causing his vehicle to crash into a power pole.
Witnesses recorded the aftermath, showing the suspects in apparent distress. Brown wore a vest with “Warrant Services,” but Davis lacked any visible identification.
The shooting has put a spotlight on Code Three Investigation and Security, the employer of both men. Attempts to contact the company have so far been unanswered.
Public records reveal that the licenses for both suspects expired last month, raising legal questions about their actions. Both are currently held at the Dallas County Jail, charged with murder.
Knowles’ family, who resides in Arkansas, is mourning his loss. This incident has sparked discussions about the need for tighter control and regulation over private law enforcement in Texas.
