SAN ANTONIO — The arrest of a 20-year-old man suspected in the fatal May shooting of a 4-year-old girl has reignited hopes for justice within a grieving Texas community. Isaiah Perales, who was already in custody for alleged auto crimes, now faces charges including capital murder connected to the tragic death of young MaryAnn Marble.
The child’s grandfather, Hector Castillo, expressed deep sorrow but also a semblance of relief following the arrest. “When she died, it was like a big part of me just died as well. I just want justice for my MaryAnn, that’s it. I’m still hurting, and I don’t know if that will ever change but seeing progress gives me a little peace,” Castillo shared. His faith in local law enforcement had wavered until recent developments suggested a break in the case.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar detailed how technological evidence played a pivotal role in the advancement of the investigation. It was revealed that Perales’ mobile device placed him near the scene on Windsor Hollow Drive at the time of the shooting. Later, investigators located a firearm in Calaveras Lake believed to be involved in the incident. Sheriff Salazar emphasized the significance of this find, expressing confidence that they had seized a weapon used in the crime.
“This is certainly a complex case, and I can assure the public that more arrests are forthcoming,” Salazar stated. He further noted the arrest of Bryan Salazar, not related to the sheriff, in connection with the same car-theft ring as Perales. Investigation revealed that Bryan Salazar had tampered with evidence potentially linked to the shooting on Windsor Hollow Drive.
The ongoing investigation has spurred authorities to seek additional evidence and witness testimony, which could lead to further arrests. The sheriff reflected on the broader impact of such a heinous act, saying, “Everyone in our department feels the weight of this tragedy. It’s devastating to lose a child, and our resolve is firm to bring all those responsible to justice.”
The community has been deeply affected, with Castillo and others closely watching the developments. Castillo confessed to mixed emotions, grappling with the pain of loss yet clinging to the hope for closure and justice. “I’m grateful they caught somebody. It doesn’t bring her back, but it’s a start,” he conceded.
In an effort to gather more information and encourage community involvement, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with any leads to come forward. They have emphasized that every small detail could be crucial in piecing together the events that led to MaryAnn’s untimely death.
Moreover, San Antonio Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to additional arrests, highlighting the community’s commitment to solving this case. The contact number for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is (210)-335-6000, and the Crime Stoppers can be reached at (210) 224-7867.
As the community and law enforcement continue to unravel the details of this case, the fervent hope remains that justice will eventually prevail for young MaryAnn Marble, bringing peace to a family and community shattered by violence.
