The victims had gathered from various locations across the nation to honor Edwards, who was seen enjoying her birthday in tie-dye bell bottoms and peace sign jewelry, a jubilant scene shared in social media posts. Pamela Wiggins, 56, the daughter of the celebrant, expressed her gratitude on Facebook for the family’s presence, noting her mother’s enjoyment of the festivity. Tragically, less than eight hours after her post, Wiggins and eight other family members were found deceased after their 2023 Ford Explorer veered off Hatton Highway and flipped into a roadside canal.

The victims included Leiana Alyse Hall, 30; Anyia Monique Lee Tucker, 21; Michael Anthony Hall Jr., 14; Imani Andre Ajani Hall, 8; Kamdien Edwards, 5; Yasire Smith, 5; Ziaire Mack, 3; and Naleia Tucker, 1. Jorden Rickey Hall, 26, survived but was reported to be in serious condition.
