Double Tragedy: Two Lives Lost in Overnight Shooting Near Colorado Springs, Investigation Underway

Colorado Springs, Colorado – An overnight shooting in the Security-Widefield area left two individuals dead, prompting a significant police response and the closure of a major roadway early Friday morning. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident occurred late Thursday night, with emergency services receiving a 911 report of a robbery around 10:45 p.m.

The shooting led to the shutdown of U.S. 85-87 near Main Street and South Academy Boulevard, causing traffic disruptions for approximately seven hours. Authorities took swift action, arriving at the scene shortly after the initial call to find two victims deceased.

A 23-year-old man, identified as LaCharles Eddie Jackson, is being sought as a person of interest in connection with the incident. Kurt Smith, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, indicated that investigators believe Jackson possesses critical information regarding the shooting.

In a related incident, a marked sheriff’s vehicle was reportedly struck by another driver suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) on South Academy Boulevard. Fortunately, the deputy sustained only minor injuries.
