Driver Fatally Shot in Eye Before Crashing in Baltimore Street

Baltimore, Maryland – The tragic shooting of a driver, Garfield Redd, has left the community in shock and mourning. Redd, 33, met a fatal end on the night of May 6 on E. 21 Street in Baltimore. Authorities found him behind the wheel, his car crashed into a cable box on the sidewalk, with a gunshot wound to his left eye at close range.

Security footage from the area revealed a chilling sequence of events leading to Redd’s untimely death. As Redd paused at the intersection of Charles Street to allow a pedestrian to pass, he was ambushed by 19-year-old Montay Anthony Levon Brown. According to court documents, Brown suddenly appeared from behind, brandishing a sawed-off shotgun that he aimed through the driver’s side window, fatally hitting Redd in the eye. The impact caused Redd’s vehicle to veer onto the sidewalk and crash, resulting in his tragic demise at the scene.

Following the harrowing incident, a crucial lead came in from a Metro Crime Stoppers tip, identifying the alleged assailant as a man known on the streets as “Murder.” The tipster provided key information, including “Murder’s” cell phone number and Instagram profile, which later led authorities to Brown. Brown, now in police custody, is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on June 11.

The motive behind Brown’s deadly actions remains murky, leaving many questioning the nature of his relationship with Redd. As the investigation unfolds, the community is left grappling with the senseless loss of a life and the unsettling circumstances surrounding Redd’s final moments on that fateful night in Baltimore.
