ROCHESTER, NY – A grim discovery in Rochester has revealed a disturbing connection between a brutal family murder and a sophisticated drug trafficking ring. The investigation has exposed a network responsible for smuggling cocaine from Puerto Rico to various U.S. destinations, including a home linked to the homicide.
On August 31, a tragic scene unfolded on Knapp Avenue when firefighters responding to a basement fire discovered the bodies of Jeremy Ubaldo, his girlfriend Marangeli Moreno Santiago, and their two children. Authorities believe the family fell victim to a horrifying act of violence perpetrated by two brothers, cousins of Ubaldo.
In recent developments, Rafael Gilbert Guerrero was arrested in Florida on charges related to cocaine distribution. A federal affidavit details an investigation into packages sent from Puerto Rico to multiple addresses, including one associated with the murdered family. One intercepted package contained cocaine and a GPS device, raising suspicions about its intended purpose.
While the connection between the drug operation and the murders remains unclear, authorities suspect a link. Guerrero is believed to have provided the address to Jose Santos Paniagua, whose fingerprints were found on various packages. Paniagua was arrested in Puerto Rico earlier this year.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine if the drug operation played a role in the tragic deaths. The community awaits answers as law enforcement seeks to unravel the truth behind these intertwined events.
This case highlights the potential reach of drug networks and their impact on communities, as investigators strive to bring closure to the victims’ families and hold those responsible accountable.
