Following the election results, members of the Goutiya family reportedly blamed the Dalit and tribal populations for their electoral loss, accusing them of siding with their opponent. The Goutiya’s influence in the area historically stems not only from political control but also economic, as they have been employers to many local Dalit and tribal individuals, often in conditions described by activists as akin to bonded labor.
