Explosions and Fire Near Sikh Temple Ruled Out as Arson, Cause Still Unknown

SACRAMENTO, CA – Sacramento County investigators are currently looking into a recent fire and explosion near a Sikh temple, ruling out arson as a cause. The incident occurred late January and involved propane tanks catching fire, leading to multiple explosions and a subsequent blaze that engulfed a building and nearby vehicles at the Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society along Bradshaw Road, south of Gerber Road.

Although the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District has determined that the fire originated from the propane tanks, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Video footage released by the fire department depicted flames erupting from the side of the building, followed by smoke seeping out of the roof before a propane tank explosion blew the tank out of the building. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders reported hearing loud explosions, with the blast radius reaching at least 50 feet in height.

Fortunately, the temple itself remained undamaged, as confirmed by the fire department. However, the building where the explosions and fire occurred sustained significant damage, with the majority of the structure being destroyed. Both the sheriff’s office and fire department have confirmed that no injuries were reported in connection to the incident.

These events have left the local community concerned and seeking answers, as they contemplate the potential causes and the impact on the area. As investigations continue, authorities are working to ensure the safety and security of the Sikh temple and its surroundings. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and the potential dangers associated with propane tanks.
