MILWAUKEE — The family of a murder victim is calling for justice following the death of 31-year-old Chrishaun Ragland, who was shot on May 9 near the intersection of Darien and Green Tree. Curtis Griffin has been charged with Ragland’s homicide, while his girlfriend, Shania Barksdale, faces accusations of stealing a firearm from the alleged shooter.
Barksdale’s involvement in the case has drawn further scrutiny. In court documents, she asserts that the idea to steal Griffin’s gun came from Ragland himself. However, Ragland’s family vehemently disputes that claim, insisting it contradicts his character and values.
“My son was never involved in anything like that,” said Shemeeka Pritle, Ragland’s mother. She expressed her grief and disbelief over the situation, emphasizing her son’s gentle demeanor. “I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I pray for families affected by violence daily. My son didn’t deserve this.”
Ragland left behind five children, who, along with other family members, are mourning his loss. They have rallied together, both for support and to seek justice, making it clear that they reject any insinuation that he was involved in a scheme to steal a gun.
Community members are encouraged to assist in the investigation. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS or via the P3 Tips app.
As the investigation unfolds, the family remains steadfast in their quest for truth and accountability, hoping that justice will be served for Ragland’s untimely death.
