WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The family of Sierra Hernandez was freed from jail and can now focus on mourning her loss. Sierra Hernandez, 20, was reported missing on Jan. 14. Her father, brother and three other loved ones were arrested while searching for her and charged with armed burglary and tampering with evidence on Jan. 18.
According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, detectives found Sierra’s body and she was murdered by 26-year-old Enrique Martinez. After a lengthy manhunt, Martinez was taken into custody near State Road 540 and Cooley Road in the Eagle Lake area. Martinez was also wanted for the murder of Edil Fernando Rodriguez Jr. back on Nov. 8.
Both the Hernandez and Rodriguez families expressed relief in learning he was arrested. They mentioned a sense of closure and justice being served for their loved ones. Sierra’s cousin, Trey Stokes, emphasized that the family was desperate in their search for her and is now determined to start moving forward as a family day by day.
The arrest of Martinez brought both peace and anger to the family members of his victims. While they expressed relief and thankfulness, they also felt anger and a sense of justice finally being served. The community is also coming together to show support for the Hernandez and Rodriguez families during this difficult time.
The families are now able to focus on the mourning and healing process for both Sierra Hernandez and Edil Fernando Rodriguez Jr. The arrest of Martinez has brought some closure to the families and they are now able to start the journey towards healing.
