Ahmedabad, India – A tragic fire at the TRP Gamezone in Rajkot, India, has resulted in the official declaration of 27 deaths, with fears that several of the victims are children. The blaze, which erupted on Saturday, sent thick smoke billowing up to five kilometers away.
Local residents reported that over 30 children and their parents were trapped inside the gaming zone when the fire broke out. Prompt response from the fire department led to the successful rescue of many individuals.
The fire reportedly started with a massive explosion in the air conditioning unit, engulfing the gaming zone in thick smoke as it quickly intensified. The flames grew following a short circuit in the AC, causing panic as people attempted to escape.
Rajkot District Collector Prabhav Joshi confirmed that the fire began around 4:30 PM, leading to the collapse of the temporary structure in the gaming zone. Authorities are currently coordinating a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the incident, focusing on the negligence that led to the tragic fatalities.
