ST LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. – On Monday, February 5, 2024, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s office in Florida has brought charges against 30-year-old Michael Anthony Addison of Lauderdale by The Sea. The charges are related to his involvement in the unfortunate deaths of FHP Trooper Zachary Fink and the driver of a semi-truck. Both individuals were killed when Addison evaded multiple attempts by law enforcement agencies to conduct a lawful traffic stop.
Sheriff Keith Pearson expressed his disappointment, stating that this tragedy could have been prevented if Michael Addison had complied with the rule of law and law enforcement. Thanks to the combined efforts of law enforcement, Addison will now be held accountable for his actions. Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Executive Director Dave Kerner reiterated the determination to hold the Defendant fully accountable and ensure that justice is served for the lives lost.
Addison’s reckless actions have left a lasting impact on the community. FHP Colonel Gary Howze II emphasized the feeling of loss due to the criminal’s complete disregard for the safety of others. Michael Anthony Addison now faces charges from the Florida Highway Patrol and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, including fleeing to elude police with lights/sirens activated and an out-of-county warrant for aggravated battery from Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
