FORT WORTH, TX – A tragic accident has left a Texas community in mourning after a suspected drunk driver, traveling the wrong way, caused a fatal collision. The crash claimed the life of Brittany Elliott and left her husband, Spencer Elliott, and their 12-year-old daughter, Ali, hospitalized.
Authorities reported that the crash occurred just after midnight on Sunday. A Dodge Ram, heading south in the northbound lanes of Boat Club Road, collided head-on with the Elliott family’s Ford Expedition. Brittany Elliott was pronounced dead at the scene, while Spencer and Ali were rushed to a Fort Worth hospital. Spencer has undergone several surgeries, and Ali is recovering from a broken arm.
The Elliott family is well-known in Tarrant County, especially Spencer, who is a teacher and coach at Keller High School. His contributions to the school and community have been widely recognized, and the support from local residents has been overwhelming.
On Monday evening, hundreds gathered at Keller ISD’s football stadium for a vigil. Friends, colleagues, and community members came together to honor Brittany’s memory and show solidarity with the Elliott family during this difficult time.
John Nelson, a close friend and fellow coach, spoke about Brittany’s unwavering support for Spencer and the impact she had on their lives. The two families had spent the previous evening together at a baseball tournament in Mansfield before the tragic accident occurred.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, who was also injured, is currently under investigation for intoxication manslaughter. Fort Worth police have not released his name but confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Spencer was set to help coach softball this season in addition to his roles in football and baseball. The community’s outpouring of support underscores the deep connections he and his family have built.
The Elliott family’s journey to recovery is uncertain, but the community’s prayers and assistance are providing strength. A fundraiser has been launched to assist with medical expenses and future needs.
As the investigation continues, the community remains focused on healing and supporting the Elliott family through these challenging times.
