On July 1, Amanda Dorris and her fiancé, Stone Sandoval, were in a crosswalk at Rinehart Road and Saint John’s Parkway when a semi-truck unexpectedly hit them. Dorris suffered serious injuries, including broken bones and a spinal fracture, but credits Sandoval for her survival.
Sandoval, who was just 27, pushed Dorris to safety but was struck directly and succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Authorities have cited the truck driver for careless driving.
