Forensic Police Commander Expects Identification of 23 Fireworks Factory Victims to be Completed by Saturday

Bangkok, Thailand – The Office of the Police Forensic Science in Thailand is working diligently to complete the identification process for all 23 victims of a devastating explosion at a fireworks factory. Pol Lt-General Trairong Phiwpan, the commander of the office, expressed his expectation that the identification would be finished by Saturday, following the tragic incident that claimed the lives of all those working inside the factory on Wednesday afternoon.

Efforts to identify the victims have been hindered by the severe impact of the explosion, which caused bodies to be blown up and scattered across a wide area around the factory. Trairong mentioned that the forensic procedures also require DNA examination, adding to the complexity of the identification process. Despite the challenges, he emphasized the commitment to completing the work by no later than Saturday.

In addition to the identification process, police investigators have also been collecting evidence from the site of the explosion. All the pieces of evidence will undergo thorough examination in the lab to determine the cause of the tragic incident. Trairong acknowledged that while the results may not be immediately available, the team is working diligently to complete the work as soon as possible.

The owner of the fireworks factory visited the explosion site to meet with forensic officers and provide details about the premises before the deadly explosion. Meanwhile, the police force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers were dispatched for inspection of the site, highlighting the comprehensive efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
