GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – In a shocking incident, a man in Gwinnett County was left with a broken back and stab wounds following a brutal attack at a gas station, as reported by the victim’s family.
Last week, Duluth police took Warren Crayton, 37, into custody for allegedly assaulting two individuals in the same area before fleeing from a shopping center. One of the victims was Alfonso Peralta, who was working at a car wash at a Shell gas station when he was attacked by the suspect.
Surveillance footage shared by the police captured the unidentified suspect, wearing a blue shirt, repeatedly kicking Peralta before making a hasty retreat. The vicious assault resulted in Peralta sustaining a broken back, according to law enforcement officials.
In response to the incident, the victim’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help cover medical expenses and living costs. The description on the fundraising platform indicated that Peralta was also stabbed during the attack, which left him with severe injuries, including the back injury that has temporarily paralyzed him.
Peralta’s family revealed that the assailant instigated the attack at the car wash, causing Peralta to seek refuge inside the gas station. As a result of the injuries sustained, Peralta is currently hospitalized and faces a lengthy recovery process before he can regain the ability to walk.
Prior to this incident, a 16-year-old victim reported being punched in the face by a stranger while leaving a local Kroger store. The motive behind the attacks remains unclear, leaving both victims perplexed and blindsided by the unexpected violence.
