PETERBOROUGH, N.H. — Nearly 33 years after the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Craig Lane at a gas station in 1989, the case remains unsolved. Lane was working at the Texaco Station on Route 202 when he was killed in an apparent robbery. The gas station was robbed around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 8, 1989. The robber fatally stabbed Lane and fled with money, leaving behind a tragic and unresolved crime.
Witnesses reported seeing a white man fleeing the scene, believed to be in his teens to early 20s at the time of the incident. Today, the suspect would be in his late 40s to early 50s. Descriptions of the suspect indicated that he was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a slim-to-medium build, and had brown, medium-length hair. He was reportedly wearing a red jacket with a blue stripe in the chest area, blue jeans, and a dark baseball cap.
