Gaza City, Gaza Strip – As Israeli airstrikes persist in Gaza and peace negotiations unfold in Egypt to establish a truce ahead of Ramadan, the region faces a deepening crisis. Tragically, a 10-year-old Palestinian child named Yazan al-Kafarneh has succumbed to severe malnourishment and lack of adequate medical care, bringing the total number of children who have died due to malnutrition and inadequate treatment in Gaza to 16.
The situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate rapidly, with reports of famine spreading across the enclave. The desperate circumstances have caught the attention of UN aid agency UNICEF, whose regional director for the Middle East and North Africa warns of the impending threat to children’s lives if the conflict does not cease and humanitarian aid is not able to reach those in need promptly.
Amidst the escalating crisis, Israel has carried out airstrikes in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah, resulting in the tragic loss of 13 lives on Monday alone, heightening tensions as the deadline for a potential Israeli assault on the city during Ramadan approaches.
