Luton, England – Mohammed Hamid, a 50-year-old man formerly residing in Luton, has been sentenced to nearly 11 years behind bars for his role in a brutal assault that left a teenage boy with irreversible injuries. The conviction stems from an incident on June 2, 2022, when emergency responders discovered a 17-year-old boy unconscious beneath a railway bridge on Telford Way.
Initially categorized as a hit-and-run, investigators later determined that the injuries sustained by the youth were inconsistent with such a scenario, leading to the realization that he had been the target of a violent, premeditated attack. The victim suffered a traumatic brain injury and ongoing severe health complications, including significant memory loss.
Bedfordshire Police zeroed in on Hamid as the getaway driver in the orchestrated attack, which involved four assailants. Surveillance footage revealed the victim entering a vehicle prior to being intercepted by a BMW, from which the masked attackers emerged, armed and ready to inflict harm. Hamid fled the scene with the assailants and abandoned the vehicle not far from the attack site.
Despite receiving critical medical treatment, the victim continues to experience profound consequences from his injuries. The severity of the assault has transformed his life, posing challenges that no young individual should have to face.
At Luton Crown Court, Hamid was convicted of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and sentenced to 10 years and 9 months in prison. He was already incarcerated for a separate offense at the time of the trial.
