Grease Truck Driver Sues Mark Sanchez for Alleged Stabbing: Claims Permanent Disfigurement and Emotional Distress

Indianapolis, Ind. — A grease truck driver is suing former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, claiming he suffered severe injuries in an altercation that left him permanently disfigured. Perry Tole, 69, filed the lawsuit against Sanchez, 38, and his employer, Fox Sports, following the incident early Saturday morning.

The lawsuit alleges that Sanchez instigated a violent confrontation while in Indianapolis to cover an NFL game. According to the complaint, Sanchez appeared intoxicated as he confronted Tole, who was collecting used cooking oil from nearby restaurants when the encounter escalated.

Tole claims he sustained significant injuries to his head, jaw, and neck during the altercation. Reports indicate that Sanchez, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds, allegedly bodyslammed Tole before turning the driver’s knife against him, resulting in a stabbing that punctured Tole’s cheek and cut his tongue.

The lawsuit states that Tole now faces “severe permanent disfigurement, loss of function, emotional distress, and other damages” due to Sanchez’s “malicious or grossly negligent conduct.” Additionally, Tole alleges that Fox Sports could be liable for failing to supervise or adequately vet Sanchez, claiming the company knew about his risky behavior.

The confrontation was sparked around midnight when Tole parked his truck in a loading area, blocking Sanchez as he performed what witnesses described as “wind sprints.” An altercation ensued when Sanchez attempted to get Tole to move the vehicle, which ended with Tole using mace in self-defense.

Following the violent encounter, Indianapolis police responded to reports of a shooting and found Sanchez at a nearby pub. Initially, he was in critical condition due to stab wounds but was stabilized after surgery. He later faced multiple charges, including misdemeanor battery and public intoxication.

As the details of Tole’s injuries were assessed, charges against Sanchez escalated to a felony count for battery resulting in serious bodily injury. This charge carries a potential penalty of up to six years in prison.

Sanchez was released from the hospital on Sunday morning and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he posted a $300 bond. Both Sanchez and representatives from Fox Sports did not respond to inquiries regarding the lawsuit or the incident.

Authorities noted the absurdity of the situation, with Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears commenting that “we are literally talking about people fighting about a parking space.” The investigation continues as additional updates are anticipated in the incident.
