Great-grandmother Survives Violent Carjacking in Aldine Area, Suspect Captured by Deputies

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man accused of brutally attacking an 83-year-old great-grandmother in an alleged carjacking incident in the Aldine area has been apprehended by authorities. Quinton Montgomery was arrested by Harris County sheriff’s deputies on Monday night, just five days after disturbing videos of the assault were first brought to light.

The violent event unfolded last Thursday outside a grocery store on Aldine Mail Route Road, where 83-year-old Lydia Sanchez was exiting the store and was forcefully pulled from her car, assaulted, and left injured. The recorded footage of the attack captured the attention of the public, ultimately leading to the identification and arrest of the 35-year-old suspect.

Despite sustaining injuries during the assault, Sanchez remains resilient and is recovering. Family members of the victim credited the surveillance video, aired by ABC13, for playing a crucial role in identifying the assailant. Following the broadcast, tips from concerned citizens through Crime Stoppers helped in pinpointing the whereabouts of the suspect.

Authorities swiftly tracked down Montgomery to a hotel room at America’s Best Value Inn off FM-1960 Road West, where he eventually surrendered without incident. During a probable cause court hearing, it was revealed that Montgomery had prior warrants for assaulting his siblings, leading the judge to label him a habitual offender.

Currently being detained without bond, Montgomery faces pending charges related to the attack on Lydia Sanchez, with investigators indicating the likelihood of additional victims. The Sanchez family expressed relief upon hearing of the suspect’s arrest. Lee Sanchez, son of the victim, voiced confidence in the swift capture, stating, “I knew very soon he would be caught.”

As the legal proceedings progress, the authorities in Harris County continue their efforts to ensure the safety of their citizens, preventing further potential victimization by individuals like Montgomery. The community, now aware of the arrest, can find solace in the swift actions taken by law enforcement in this distressing case.
