Lakewood, New Jersey – A man from Ocean County has pleaded guilty to committing hate crimes against members of the Orthodox Jewish community in and around the area. Dion Marsh was accused of violently attacking five Jewish people in 2022, including running over four individuals in a stolen vehicle and stabbing one of them in the chest.
The authorities have voiced their concern over the rise in hate-fueled violence, emphasizing the need to protect the civil rights of all individuals, regardless of their background or beliefs. U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger stated, “The threat from hate-fueled violence is a sad reality across our state and our nation. That hate is not who we are. We are stronger as a people because no matter what you look like, how you worship, where you come from, or who you love, your civil rights must be respected and protected.”
Marsh is scheduled to be sentenced on June 11. This case highlights the ongoing issue of hate crimes and the importance of addressing and preventing such acts of violence within society. It also serves as a reminder of the significance of protecting the rights and safety of all individuals, regardless of their religious or cultural affiliations.
