EDGEWOOD, Md. – In a tragic turn of events, Jamar Deverick Wise, 43, of Edgewood, pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Kisha Blackwell, 46, who was shot and killed on December 20, 2022, in the driveway outside her home on Majesty Lane. This plea was made at the Harford County Circuit Court on Friday.
According to the Harford County Office of the State’s Attorney, the 911 caller was Blackwell’s 15-year-old daughter, and the incident was also recorded via a cellphone by a neighbor. Wise was arrested in Pennsylvania on December 22, still in possession of the gun used to shoot Blackwell, as confirmed by prosecutors.
The dreadful incident began with a verbal argument, prompting police to be called. Deputies arrived within minutes of the gunfire, but the shooter had fled the scene. Blackwell tragically succumbed to her injuries a day later.
Sentencing for Wise has been scheduled for May 10, with his plea deal including an agreed sentence range of life in prison with all but 80 years suspended to life without parole. This development brings a sense of closure to this harrowing case, providing some form of justice for the family and loved ones of Kisha Blackwell.
